About RiseWithThem

Born from personal experience, driven by compassion, dedicated to transformation

🏠

Our Story

Founded in 2025 by Myles Mugisha Magari, a former refugee who experienced firsthand the challenges faced by displaced communities. After arriving in the United States at age 24, Myles witnessed how education and dignity could transform lives. His personal journey from refugee to college graduate ignited a passion to give back to vulnerable communities worldwide.

🎯

Our Mission

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about our mission, programs, and how you can help

What does RiseWithThem do? +
RiseWithThem empowers vulnerable communities—refugees, widows, orphans, and underprivileged youth—through three core programs: sanitary pad distribution to keep girls in school, education support including scholarships and tutoring, and self-reliance training including vocational skills and entrepreneurship. We believe in addressing immediate needs while building long-term capacity for independence.
How are donations used? +
We maintain strict financial transparency: 85% of donations go directly to programs, 10% to administrative costs, and 5% to fundraising activities. Every donation is tracked and we provide detailed impact reports to show exactly how your contribution made a difference. Our annual financial reports and IRS Form 990 are available on our website.
Are donations tax-deductible? +
Yes! RiseWithThem is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (412452804). All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. You will receive a tax receipt for all donations, and we recommend consulting with your tax advisor for specific deduction guidance.
How can I volunteer? +
We offer both remote and in-person volunteer opportunities. Remote options include tutoring, mentorship, translation, social media support, and administrative tasks. In-person opportunities vary by location and include event support, community outreach, and direct service delivery. Visit our Get Involved page or contact us directly to discuss opportunities that match your skills and availability.
Why focus on sanitary pads specifically? +
Lack of menstrual hygiene products is one of the leading causes of school dropout among adolescent girls worldwide. When girls miss school during their periods, they fall behind academically and are more likely to drop out permanently. Our reusable sanitary pad program not only keeps girls in school but also provides education about menstrual health, reducing stigma and promoting dignity. It's a simple solution with profound long-term impact on education and gender equality.
Which countries do you work in? +
We currently operate programs in Rwanda refugee camps( Mahama, Nyabieke, and Kigeme) and are expanding to other regions based on need. Our initial focus is on East Africa due to the high concentration of refugees and significant gaps in menstrual hygiene support. However, we are actively exploring opportunities to expand our programs to other regions with similar needs, including parts of South Asia and the Middle East. Our geographic focus evolves based on need assessment and our capacity to deliver effective, sustainable programs.
How do you measure impact? +
We use both quantitative and qualitative metrics to track our impact. Key indicators include school attendance rates, academic performance, business creation rates, income improvements, and program completion rates. We conduct regular surveys with beneficiaries, maintain detailed case studies, and engage third-party evaluators for program assessment. Our annual impact report provides comprehensive data on outcomes and stories of transformation.
Can I sponsor a specific child? +
While we don't offer traditional child sponsorship programs, we do have our "Sponsor a Girl's Education" program where you can fund a full scholarship for a specific student. This includes regular updates on their academic progress, photos (with permission), and letters. The minimum commitment is one academic year ($500), and many sponsors continue supporting their student through graduation and beyond.
